Why do fixed gear riders have a hard time admitting they ride one cuz it's trendy?

Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Pretty sure it's only been once so far. "Keep unbanning" sounds like 2-3 times minimum.

He was banned and came back with a new username, which resulted in him being banned again. He wrote Tom and I apologies and was allowed back (again). I'm pretty sure he had another episode in the 'Today I' thread, resulting in another ban. Then Tom locked him away in Trollheim, where he is currently residing.

Phil Schwartz is not pleased ha.

My thoughts exactly. He was on a short leash before, and he ****ed it up. Royally. And all of a sudden he's back.

Without being offensive, I believe the OP, who apparently hasn't learned his lessons (zing! anyone? no? ok) made a crude joke about how much..hmmm...female companionship FG riders get because they ride fixed gears.

edit: yeah, google it.

I thought fixed gears stopped being "trendy" around the time WalMart started selling them.

I ride fixed because it's fun, and I get sweet thigh muscles, and I love the looks I get from roadies when I pass them with my one gear.

LL, stop trying to be funny. It doesn't usually work out for you.

Also, in b4 /thread

I ride fixed because it makes me feel like I am one with the bike, I really feel the road, and it's the ultimate in simplicity. Everyone I know that rides fixed feels this way, too. In fact, sometimes at parties, after the room is cloudy and everyone is feeling mellow, we say things like, "Mannnn.... I really.....like.....feeel ONE.....with my bike......when I ride it....you know what I'm sayyyyinn?"
