Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Brooks B17 Narrow or B17 Narrow Imperial

Hi all,
I've got a Brooks Flyer on my flat bar Jamis Coda Sport. I'm not quite ready to put one on my cf road bike (trying to fight the weight weenie tendencies, but still), but I do want to get a Brooks for my new Jamis Sputnik (2010 631 frame model). So, I'm pretty sure I want to go with narrow instead of the standard B17. My question is whether the features off the Imperial (cut out, laces) are worth the extra cash ($135 v. $110). Thoughts?
Thanks,
Bryan

$25 isn't much of an upcharge if you take into account that the saddle will last longer than you will.

Just get what you want.

If you prefer to have a cutout saddle, then the Imperial is the one for you. IMO, the extra $25 is nothing in terms of what is comfortable and what works for your butt. Do you know if you prefer a cutout or not?

+10 to what the other guys said.

I've had my narrow for about two months now with about 30+ miles on it and it's breaking in more and more everyday.

me gusta.

the Imperial is the one type of Brooks saddle that I would recommend you try before you buy if at all possible. people either love them or hate them
