Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Craigslist Bike

I feel like this is a really good deal on this bike. Am I right?

Also would this be a good bike to convert to fixed gear?

A link, photo, or otherwise any type of description would really help, as there is certainly more than one bike being sold on Craigslist.

The best possible thing you could do is make this post where it belongs.

Dude. Still in the wrong thread, it has gears, and its a mountain bike. You're in the wrongest spot possible to post that.

Looks like it's in pretty good shape, has some extras. If it fits you, it's not a bad buy. Not a bike you want to go making into a fixie for road riding probably (unless your roads are hella rough). Also, did I just date myself incredibly by saying "hella"?

Ftfy

$60 is pretty great deal if it fits. SS mtb with slicks are nice, just not for typical shwyt fixays

Around here (SF Bay Area), most people on craigslist want about $150-$200 for a bike like that.

Most things are posted with grossly exaggerated prices, but there are deals to be found here, though...I got my 2012 Trek FX 7.5 (retail ~$900) for $350 back in January.

Anyways...back on track...

the craigslist bike in question most likely has vertical rear drop outs, which are not ideal for FG/SS.
