Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Anyone make money on their ss/fg?

Hi, just wondering if there are any other messenger/delivery guys out there. I am a delivery guy for a middle eastern joint in brooklyn. At first i hated it, but now im making good money, and getting in 30 miles a day. My former messenger coworker says he makes more money delivering. I encourage anyone who needs a little scratch to try it out

Only way to get people interested is to ask for a parts rec i guess..

Im looking for a decently priced rim with heavy durability (180 pounds, 30 miles a day urban riding with invisible nighttime potholes). Is there anything out there that might have decent speed too. I suppose speed isnt paramount tho..

I did it on the side for just a little bit several years ago in downtown San Jose. Was kinda fun.

Gonna be kinda hard to get a response 2 hours after posting when you're doing it in the middle of a workday. Have a little patience.

Hoagie Steak Out off San Carlos and 3rd. Did it for a few months only to help a friend out. Was on call mostly and only took on deliveries when I was available. Some extra scratch...

edit: delivering to college chicks was also a plus.

I was a messenger in Philly for a while. Money sucked, but it was a lot of fun sometimes.

If i might ask, about how much were you pulling down? I hear this big company called urban express here in nyc will hire almost anyone, but atm i cant really see a reason to switch to messengering aside from cred etc.

I was averaging 2-300 a week when I quit. I knew guys who made a lot more. Usually it was a matter of seniority and working for the right company. I was at one of the slower companies.
