Homemade Bullhorns
I would like to put Bullhorns on my Bianchi Pista, when it gets here.
I would also like to save some money.
The pictures of the 2005 Pista don't show the handlebars at angles suitable for estimating whether or not I could flip the Bianchi/Deda steel track bars over, cut them off and make useful bullhorns out of them.
Has anyone tried this with the 2005 Pista, and did it work?

chances are you're gonna need a shorter stem. i played with my stock bars and stem and the reach was too long. seems most setups with horns have a require a shorter stem than drop set ups.

A good point.
In my case, I have a long body and short legs.
If I get a frame big enough for my body I have stand-over height problems.
I had the LBS folks take measurements from my present ride, and the 61cm Pista frame would fit my body best, but not my legs; so, we've decided on the 59cm frame with the saddle set back and bullhorns in front.
I just hate to spend forty-some dollars on bullhorns if I can cut Bianchi/Deda drop bars and accomplish the same thing.
However, if the Bianchi/Deda's shape doesn't lend itself to homemade bullhorns, then I'll order some, but it'll take awhile and I'd like to start riding this critter right out of the box.
Besides, you know, anticipation?
I consider the planning and the design half the fun.

Nitto Moustache bars are another option. Lots of hand positions and still upright.
As for the bullhorns, they are available for much less than $40. Try checking the Nashbar site, as they used to have a version similar to the Profile that was $15.

My $.02:
Keep the stock bars around just in case you ever want to go back to them and pick up the Nashbars.
