Why am I getting so many flats???

Okay...so I havent been riding fixed but for 3 days... but each day...I wake up and the front tire is flat.
Gone through 2 tubes! Are these rims made different then normal road rims...aside from the obvious deep in the rim and its made with more metal.
I dont think I could have put tubes on wrong BOTH times??
Any thoughts???

What tires are you running, at what pressure? What rims? What tires/rims are on your other bike that you are comparing to?

What kind of tubes do you use? The "light" versions can be susceptible to stem tears, which will cause a leak like that if the tear is small. Pinch flats tend to be dramatic explosions for me, but also check that you are not pinching the tube between the rim and tire.

Check the inside of your tire and rim for debris.

you did identify and remedy the source of the original flat, right? 99% of repeat flats are from just swapping the tube and leaving the glass in the tire.

Riding fixed has nothing to do with this.

It could be quite a few things as you've given us no pertinent information to go off of. Make sure your rim tape is properly installed (no spokes sticking through), check the tire for debris, the rim for burs/alloy pubes, Make sure you're inflating to the proper pressure, and most importantly, make sure you're installing the tube correctly. Too many people end up pinching or twisting their tubes during installation and are flabbergasted when they end up with a flat one mile down the road again.

You did.

Or you put the tube on correctly the first time, got a legitimate flat, and then did it wrong.

flats come in 3's. So, you have one to go and then you are clear for a few months.

What a joke

If you have the flimsy rubber or plastic rim strip I suggest you buy some Velox cloth tape or rim plugs.

Going for pizza and beers tonight at this local joint with a handful of people, some of the best pizza I've ever had, and I haven't had it in forever.

He probably put it on upside down and you will never know, bc you are not pizza tech.

What's wrong is that anyone working at a bike shop should know how to install a ****ing rim strip.

What Scrod is saying is that when you suggested someone couldn't put on rim tape correctly (and they're being paid, by you, to do said task - it made him want to do this)
