So I got the wahoo blue sc and started using the wahoo fitness app since it uploads to strava and mapmyfitness.
Strava says I burned 419 calories
https://app.strava.com/activities/47214989
MapMyRide says I burned over 1000
https://www.mapmyride.com/workout/253501240
And MyFitnessPal says I burned over 900
What do you think I should go with? My stats are the same in all of them. Strava seems the most reasonable based on workouts from the past.

Always go with the lowest, and then divide by two, haha.
Those calorie burned numbers are trash, only way to legitimately measure that is with power data.

Yeah, it'd be awesome to burn 1000+ calories in a 55 minute ride but I'm pretty sure that's impossible (at least for me).
I doubt I'll be getting a power meter anytime soon though. I wonder if a heart rate monitor would improve the accuracy at all?

How much do you weigh?
On a mostly flat/downhill ride like that, at that speed, I think <30 calories a mile would be a good baseline to work from with an eye towards going lower.
Heart rate monitor won't increase your accuracy, it'll just give you more noise. You'd need a power meter to get a good idea of actual calories expended since power=work.

215 roughly...started the year at 240, I'd like to see 185 by the end of the year, that would put me at the top of my recommended weight but at least not overweight anymore. I wear the pounds well, but would like to be healthier. I'm 33 now and I know things are going to start getting harder as the years go by.

So I just dropped 40 on some MKS leather stainless steel toe straps. coming from 10 dollar nylon straps, was this a good upgrade? Will I notice anything big?

I like my MKS stainless/leather straps. The straps themselves are very tough and feel pretty good. Downside - the leather gets torn up quickly on the road if you happen to scrape them.

You will notice a huge improvement to the overall classiness of your ride. Beware thought, clips and cages are the first step on a slippery slope towards Brooks saddles. Not sure if you want to go there or not.

Alright I just cleaned out the thread.
As per thread guidelines/ tidiness, please keep all spoons in pants so they don't have the risk of being trampled on.
Yes it was and yes you will. A wiser choice would've been to go for laminated straps which would be your next step up the ladder nonetheless.
Your clips & straps with leather straps as opposed to nylon will now feel more snug and secure than before.
However as vw mentioned they're much more fragile than laminated and will stretch and become noodley with use.

Your cog is slipping.
That doesn't mean I condone it. I do a lot of stupid **** everyday.
Let me guess...you've never done it?
As I've mentioned before on this forum whenever it comes up, I've literally tried to make my suicide hub setup fail while riding and the cog hasn't budged.
