there are some sweet bikes on this thread. gives me lots of ideas of what i want to do with mine. i think im going to build a singlespeed for my gf who is primarily a mountainbiker like myself. she's 5' tall on her best day, so i suppose its going to be a little hard finding a frame that fits her.

Easy! I thought it would be impossible but it turns out to be very comfy and gives me a very flat back too.
(It was adjusted by a fit guy I know)

it's really only like that because the angle of my hips compresses some very important material

No fit expert would allow a customer to leave the store like that.

Are you a fit expert?

It looks super ****ed, but that position looks like it places you at the front end of your saddle, which is what you are looking for in TT setup. Its the same reason why TT specific saddles have more padding in the front; you spend more time on the front.

Does the fit expert work for a bike shop, or just a self-claimed savant?

He's not a fit expert, he's a "fit guy". Maybe he's a friend who's like 4% body fat.

Look at any TT bike, ever, and tell me how many slanted saddles you see. Now look again and count off how many of them place the nose of the saddle forward of the bottom bracket. If his setup fit before he put the aero bars on,he would need to get that saddle higher and further forward in order to get into a proper tuck. And if he needs to tilt the saddle that far down to feel comfortable, the saddle isn't right for his shape or he's got it set too high to begin with.

You don't have to be an expert to figure out what's obviously incorrect.

nice kilo. i've never found those curved stems appealing, to say the least, but i'm liking how it seems to have a long even bend from the stem all the way into the drops.

it's kewl, although i'm starting to think it's due to the picture angle :/... nice bike regardless

https://www.trifuel.com/forum/22184/t...e#.UYf4B5VU3ww

Different people have different saddle tilts. Even though the bike with the Arione is excessive and probably incorrect, its a bold a statement to say that there does not exist a fit expert that would allow someone to leave their (fit expert's) presence with a downward tilt on the saddle, forward of the bottom bracket. The Arione is also very long saddle, so depending on where the default positioning is on the saddle, he may be just fine.

Again, it comes down to the rider on bike, which we have not seen.

Oh, man.

On the first example, the nose of the saddle _is_ level (or much more in line with what you would see given anatomical variance). On the second example, the bike is shot from an angle, the real wheel is on a rack, AND it looks like the dude is lifting the bike by the nose. And even those are just two examples out of thousands. Try harder.

The second saddle is pretty tilted, look at the wheels; they are in line on the bottom, so the photographer compensated for the bike angle. And I could see a fit guy letting a guy leave his shop with a fit like that, the bike is too small and the bars are too low on a bike not made for tt. Sometimes you just gotta do what's necessary to get a comfortable fit.

Also, you gotta remember that the UCI enforced a rule stating that saddles have to be level, so that's likely why you don't see many tilted saddles.

Thats my fault. I just put the saddle on again and slammed it all the way forward forgetting how long it over reached the BB.
Fixed it up and I'm happy with my "fit expert" and the shop he works for.

this one is the one i ride most days to work and around town.

the frame is an itty bit too big for me, which explains the itty bitty stem.
