Stem is fugly, weld marks and not perfectly smooth and shapely. I hate 95% of stems though.
Not a fan of the crank shape either. I understand the matchy matchiness of them, but never liked the shape with the extreme bow on the spider.

But what do I know, I spray painted dura ace hubs blue :l

Custom fillet brazed stem and seatpost to match the frameset would be awesome.

Next time I put together a show bike I'll think about all that. This is just a purpose build daily commuter for the 22 km I have to cover twice a day: don't need two bottle holders for that, most parts are from the spare parts box, love Campagnolo especially the crankset, love raw steel, don't like tan saddles or gum hoods on a bike that will see a lot of wind and rain. Antonio Taverna did a a great job building me a cheap but custom Deda Zero-Uno frameset to the exact specs of my Merlin Extralight. Custom stem and post would triple what I spend on this bike, if not more. Wheels were fitted for the photos, I have a similar set but with already worn GP4 rims and I'm building up a set of high profile Record hubs from the spare parts box with polished low profile Campagnolo Omegas.

Thanks! Tires are Continental Giro tubulars. Far from sophisticated but they roll quite nice, are durable and very puncture resistant, which is basically all I'm looking for when commuting. The bottle holder is for a bottle that contains a mini pump and a can of Vittoria Pit-Stop sealant, over the past couple of years that proved to be all I need for puncture repair.

Spring/summer build that deserves newer wheels, but I'm keeping these because Ellipse seems like the only alternative and that's out of budget at the moment. Also the Gipiemmes are sturdy enough for street riding and actually lighter than they look.

I still need to change out the chainring for something a bit more classic looking (velosolo,) put a brake on her, and either brown leather tape or a set of gropes on her, but I love her. She's my Grey Geisha. I also put a champagne cork on her, so I never lose my pop. I hope to one day live in an area with a velodro

You know what, I was aggressive and that was wrong. I'm quite defensive about locking up my bike because I take it seriously. I should not have gotten pissed because I don't know this dude and I don't know if he was being sarcastic. So for that, I apologize, Leukybear. So, I was wrong and I'm sorry.

additionally, as a clarification point: I used the chain to steady the bike so it wouldn't fall over.

No need to be sorry, we just got off on the wrong foot, I should've taken a better look at the pictures especially when the black shackle of a u lock blends in so well in the cluttered part of a photo for a man going into his 18th hour of being awake.
