Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? I feel like it deserves to be here, too. Why limit ourselves, you know?

Anybody who customizes their bike/motorcycle to accommodate their canine pal gets a tip of the hat from me.

Seems like the weight would get all weird if the dog went to one side or the other. Like riding with someone on the back of yer motorbike, who doesn't know when to lean in a curve.

I agree that the weight that high might be an issue. I haul more weigh that likes to shift around mid ride (but they respond to yell "sit down!".) Having the weight lower really helps. But bottom line, that is far from jackass.

Unless......the dog "gets it". Decades ago there was a guy who raced the Barstow to Vegas race with his dog Kookie on the carpeted tank. That dog knew the gig for everything, jumps, wheelies, dropoffs, you name it. I don't believe he was taught though, I think it was just a natural balance thing. It was even said that John (the human) sometimes could tell what type of terrain was coming up based on Kookies stance.

I dunno, but the were cool (and fast).

I got passed twice last year by a fellow on a bagged Harley with a German Shepard on the back seat. Sitting, no restraints and seemingly calm and comfy. Looked pretty cool, but a few minutes of thought strongly suggests a jackass thing to do, endangering the dog thusly.

Pls. note the #jackass , tying the post to this thread

The motorcycle version of that was really popular here in Cleveland a few years ago. Those guys have to do a three point turn to turn around on those things. And the "beachball" rear tires are just awful.

Bros be extreme.....

choppers have been a huge deal for decades, but i never saw the appeal in them

old man up the block has like 6 of them and has his buddies come over with theirs every weekend and they fill up his driveway with bikes

hes got a bodacious 3 ft long grey beard that flaps in the wind as he cruises along, and one day traveling on the opposite side of the street he gave me the 2 finger biker "whats up" signal to me on my bicycle, he gets a pass.
