I can't get enough of the new Felice Brothers record, Favorite Waitress. And a couple of bands that played a music festival here over the spring - Shovels & Rope and Langhorne Slim & The Law. I had never heard either of these bands but they are both pretty amazing and have spent a lot of time between my ears the last few months.

    Nice!

I am not too familiar with the Jack Johnson sessions. I'll have to check them out. I thoroughly enjoy both B!tches Brew and Live-Evil, the albums surrounding the JJ sessions.

*****es Brew is another favorite but I think JJ was just better and more spontaneous.

Metal of almost any sort. Megadeth, Anthrax, Metallica, not so much Slayer but I saw them play. Dream Theater and Opeth are always on the playlist. Katatonia is good, along with Scar Symmetry, In Flames, Soilwork, and a lot of the music that comes out of the Baltic Peninsula. I don't care for black metal though. It seems like shock factor for the sake of shock factor--which is the main reason I don't regularly listen to Slayer.

I wouldn't call a lot of earlier Slayer as shock for the sake of shock. My personal fav was Seasons in the Abyss. Reign in Blood and South of Heaven are good too.

In other news, this track could have my favorite sax solo:

Since I'v moved form Mission Beach, California to central Indiana I have really missed it. I found some bands that sing about the places I use to hang out and surf, really brings back some memories. Not to popular around here though.

When I saw them (headlining with Anthrax and Megadeth alongside) they did the Reign in Blood album in its entirety. It was good, but it seemed a little too...idk, just not my speed. I didn't mean to make it sound like I was dissing them--they shaped pretty much every modern metal act and are brilliant musicians. It's just not what I'd prefer to listen to.

Got really into punk and I've recently been listening to a muuuch scaled back kind, almost surf rock which is great during the summer. Just stupid LA teen angst music but it's a lot of fun to ride to. Favorite of a few I've found is Tough Stuff.
Then I liked this song so much I got the title tattooed across my ankles.
