Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Either an octave mandolin or a bouzouki, I can't tell from the pictures and video. Some manufacturer's models look very similar, with the octave mandolin having a shorter neck and shallower body.

I guess I assumed it was octave mandolin because it was being used to play lead. Bouzouki is usually a rhythm instrument in Irish/Celtic music whereas octave mandolin is often a substitute for tenor banjo, but you could be right.

They (the Rumjacks) have a website and it says he plays banjo, mandolin, and bouzouki; if you can play mandolin and bouzouki, you can play an octave mandolin. Whatever it is, they play some seriously good "celtic punk" similar to the Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly.

They sound a lot like the Pogues (Shane McGowan) and that's a good thing

Yeah, those were the days when there was some crossover between genres. Ice T was doing metal albums and there were a bunch of bands working together on projects.

Saw Biohazard many times at L'amoure in Bay Ridge back in the day. Metallica with Cliff Barnes and Slayer together at the Rio Theater in Valley Stream when they were nobody, Pantera, Anthrax, Accept, Venom, Merciful Fate, the original Fate's Warning... Those were some times. My Brother and I are actually in the Punishment video.

I smile at you as I drive down the street
Sitting in my car with plush leather seats
Survival of the fittest and that is the beat
And I eat all of the meat
Still one of my favorite lyrics. I saw Type-O-Negative in Atlanta the year before Pete died.

Still my favorite Ramones song...or Johnny Thunders.

And two songs that always put a smile on my face...

(if a bar has a jukebox, it's the first song I always put in....)

And one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands....

I seem to always revert back to Mozart and Vivaldi and regret not picking up a violin when I was younger.

Gil Shaham can play.

I'm a huge Wagner fan but also love Beethoven.

Still my favorite Beethoven piece. I've put this on repeat for hours.

Bach is the master, above all.

I play piano a little, but my main instrument is guitar. Happens that Leon Fleisher teaches at the conservatory I attended, and when I arrived freshman year I unknowingly had the same glasses and hairstyle. All day long I'd hear how I looked like Mr. Fleisher's mini-me.

Late period Beethoven, one of the few that stands with Bach
