Hmm?.. Bike parts or Spaceship parts?

200 bucks for a seatpost that's almost more than my whole bike! ridiculous... I've been searching for seatpost; something solid and easy to use, but classic and classy to put on Benotto conversion. Since I'm fairly new to the road world (coming from the dirt) and don't know quite where to look, my seaches come up with crazy StarWars carbonfiber tech posts or, a bunch of seatpost i'm not so sure about. I don't know... I think as seatpost is a seatpost, all I need is something to to hold up the darn seat, but, I'm all for quality, and I'm not looking for a bike to ride in space. Obi-Wan Kenobi you're my only hope?? :o

I use $10 Ritchey posts or the scavenger bin Syncros post I got back in 99

Kalloy makes a decent seatpost that is pretty cheap. Your LBS probably even stocks them in regular sizes. This is the first link that came up on Froogle:

Kalloy Seatpost

This may not be super classy but it will get the job done.

Can't you find a campy seatpost for your benotto?

http://www.avalanchedownhillracing.com/mtn10.html Spaceship parts.

Check the price. I may have to settle on something less expensive.

Yeah but you get a cool diagram...

sarcasm... sarcasm...

jeff williams 02-11-05 11:36 AM

..maybe some stickers.
Bloody well should give you a frame to ride with it for that cash.
It's 5 times the cost of my entire bike.

you ever try typing your seatpost diameter into e-bay?

lotek 02-11-05 11:59 AM

Just get an Alu American Classic seatpost. I spent
a ridiculous $15 for mine, and that was new.

How much do you want to spend? What's you seatpost diameter?

Ah yes, I do feel like a bone head now. That's what I should have done from the beginning. Although, I have had a few bad experiences with ebay sellers. That was with musical equipment though.

pitboss 02-11-05 12:18 PM

avoid the "seatpost/flute" combos then :)

In that case, no Campy then..... Some of the earlier classic Record, Chorus, and Athena posts were fluted. :p

I'm pretty sure Nashbar.com generally has some cheap stuff.

Other than that, what I did was just go to my LBS and ask for a cheap, simple seat post the same size as my old one. Piece of cake.

I'm looking at that diagram. How do you know which end to aim and which end has the trigger?

These questions sound like two very bold pick-up lines.
