fixed gear | what do you sport? [ toe cage vs. clipless]

so i just thought to ask with a poll attached to it, to see if i can get a feel & ppls reasoning to their preference.

as my roadie sits in the garage, i mostly ride my fixed gear around to everywhere i go. i was riding with a toe-cage (toe-clips) attached on, till one of the steal cages snapped the other day.
On my roadie, i have carbon look pedals, hence why i put the cages on my fixed so i dont have to swap out shoes when i go to school, or commute someplace.
but i noticed i dont get that efficient pull up on my pedal stroke when i used the clips.

anyways...i just got another pair of clip-less pedals on the way to me, from the kindness of a current member here "primov8"
so i guess ima start enduring fitting a pair of shoes/sandals in my osprey 14 bag.

Dammit, I voted before I read what you said. I thought it'd be what do you ride with not what do you prefer. I ride with clips and double straps but if I could i'd ride clipless errywhere.

I'm riding with toe cages right now as I am too poor (lazy) to go out and buy a pair of clipless pedals/shoe since I just commute to and from my college campus and do light biking on the weekends. I did however use those Ynot straps, and those held me in pretty well.

Its just that Toe Clips/Straps is just a sexy combo to see on fixed gear bikes

Clips and straps here. (what are toe cages, anyway?)

So far all I have is the pedals part of the clipless setup. Someday I'll blow $15 on cleats and $100-ish on shoes...

Both on two different bikes. I feel like they're both valid options depending on application.

I detest cages and straps and I love my clipless pedals. I even find the clipless pedals easier to get out of in an emergency.

I used to have one bike with clips and straps for when I was going to do some walking around on a ride. This spring I got a pair of Keen Austin's and now I have clipless on all my bikes.

Have toe cages currently but swapping to clipless in the next week or two, tired of feeling all that play when climbing.

Calling clips "toe cages" is like calling a setapost a saddle pole.

Oops guess I haven't quite gotten all the terms right yet ahahaha, I always get the words mixed up between clips and cages and have no idea why, probably because at first my feet felt like they were trapped inside of them (the time i nearly ate the curb cause i couldnt get my foot out). But since then I can't seem to get them to how I'd like them which is probably a little tighter. Maybe I need double straps

Shimano M540 pedals with my Shimano M087 shoes in gray because I like to walk to my door and go super extra fast on the bike!

Any pair of havaianas should fit in a jersey pocket. For a cheap rubber flip flop, they're comfy as hell.

I have clipless on my road bike and definitely prefer those, but I like the way clips/straps look on a bike - especially a classic steel bike.

I use both depending on the situation. Clips and Straps for commuting, MTB pedals and shoes for bar hopping downtown and Speedplays for the longer rides.

The cost of decent double-straps is nearly that of many decent clipless pedal systems. Your money might be better spent on a set of ATAC's.

Clipless if I'm going for a ride. Clips and straps if I'm just bouncing around town for errands or drinking. Whichever is on the bike if I don't feel like getting a wrench.

Even though I could walk in recessed cleat shoes, I am more comfortable in good old tennies.
