Any thoughts on the State Bicycles FGFS completes?
I've been digging around for a bike to accommodate beefier tires for when the weather isn't that great. I live in Albany, NY and the roads are pretty wet throughout the winter. I have a Kilo TT and I can't go much larger than about a 28c on it. I have thought about going the 29er route as well as a FGFS bike that I'll slowly work up over time.
From the looks of it, the new FGFS bikes from State Bicycle Co. look like they have pretty decent parts and can accommodate up to a 50c tire (or so they say). Any thoughts on these or suggestions of what else to look for? I'm thinking a more upright ride compared to my TT for a comfier cold weather commute.

i would think a surly would be ideal for this application, no?
This one is definitely overkill, but it's called the Moonlander, so it has every right to be:

Not looking for a fat bike, but thanks haha. I think a 700c wheel would be fine along with a slightly larger tire (maybe 30-35c). Any other ideas of what might suit me here?

Depends on your budget. Steamrollers fit up to a 38c, I think the 1x1 fits a wider tire than that.

The State FGFS is one size fits all. It's pretty much a 700c BMX frame it might not be the best commuter.

From Bikes Direct. The specs say that up to a 42 tire will fit. $400
Nashbar has a single speed cross bike for $350 and they have a 25% off sale now. Not sure if that one is included or not.
