Today I ran into a very strange looking horse.

Best kind of horse, if you ask me.

Today (yesterday) I finally commuted to work, it wasn't very far for me, just 24mi one way, the roads were less than desirable. But now it has me seriously considering something that has racks mounts, as riding with 20lbs on my back was less than fun.

TMonk 06-08-14 11:07 AM

You can't leave some of the 20lbs at work?

change of clothes/boots/food/flat repair kit. My boots and food weigh a **** ton.

bowzette 06-08-14 03:36 PM

recovering from a century I did yesterday. I feel better than being hit by a Mac truck but worse than being run over by a moped. Only 400" of elevation in 96 miles! I came to realize hills are your friends on a fixed gear. Muscles get no relief by spinning downhill and standing uphill.

Dannihilator 06-08-14 04:28 PM

Today I got in 42 miles.

Boots were a little bit of an obstacle for me too this semester. That is until I said **** it and started riding in my work boots.

I'm jealous of the mileage you're able to put in. Wish my schedule allowed for it.

vaultbrad 06-08-14 08:43 PM

Today was around 20mi
Yesterday was 40mi
Friday was ~20mi

For me that is a lot of riding. My body has always been better at speed than endurance, but it was really great to be on the bike that much.

Drive to Lafayette. Gonna be here for the week. Most likely make the drive over to the velodrome.

spRICE 06-08-14 09:42 PM

Today I rode 72mi. With a slammed 17d 110mm stem. My back is going to kill me tomorrow.

50voltphantom 06-09-14 06:56 AM

Rode to work in pouring rain.

Learned that plastic grocery bags are effective shoe covers for about 4 miles of my 9 mile commute.

That would be fine, except 48mi round trip in boots sounds less than pleasant. Guess I better HTFU

Mumonkan 06-09-14 11:13 AM

been meaning to get on some swift industries baggage for a while for the same reason. food is heavy.

Did you choose to ride in the rain or do you have no car? I hate riding in the rain. I hate getting wet and I hate when my bike gets wet lol.

JohnDThompson 06-09-14 03:24 PM

Finally got the right tool for my SunTour bottom bracket (these things are scarcer than hen's teeth):

Chose to. I figured I'm going to get caught in the rain eventually so I might as well do it once when I'm as prepared as I can be and learn something.

Mumonkan 06-10-14 08:36 AM

i actually like riding in the rain, my only beef with it is having to change once i get to my destination, which means carrying more crap with me and needing to get there early

Huffandstuff 06-10-14 09:05 AM

Rain is the best, you can lay down mad sweet skidzz.

today my six month old mw bag has a hole in the liner already.

Wow dislike, I've been lusting after those bag lately. Just went soft after reading this.

Today I finally took my new Wabi Classic out for it's first commute. :) Since I broke my humerus snowboarding the day after it arrived, it's been sitting for 4 months collecting dust on that shiny turquoise paint!

It's not too bad, just the stitching came loose in an edge so it started unraveling. I only noticed it cause I lost my fifteen and couldn't figure out where so I pulled everything out only to find the wrench floating around in the inside of the bag.

Just have to take it to a seamstress sometime and get it fixed for like five bucks and they probably will refund that.
