I went to Home Depot to be disappointed that they only have 1lb spools of fluxcore wire. Then I took a ****ty picture of my fooling around, erm, practice.

Some dude tried to steal a six grand kestrel legend today.

Didn't work out too well for him.

Word. Looking good. Have you tried certifying in SMAW yet? Will you get to do a gas welding & brazing segment? That should really stoke the desire to build your own frame. At least it did for me.

Gonna need some details on that. We have been lucky with no bike thefts, but one time a guy reached into our cash drawer and stole about $100 when we were super busy. We caught it later on security footage. That was pretty brazen.

No SMAW certs yet but I was working on my 1" 3G uphill for the last month of my class. We did gas for the first six weeks and I have been practicing at home a bit because I have my dad's old torch set up. Acetylene is damned expensive so I might get some other fuel when I finish my tank and just practice brazing.

Got passed riding the local trail for the first time tonight. Triathalon/TT bike, wings & aero bars, extra bottles on the back of his seat. He put me about 400m behind at times but never completely lost me for the ~8 miles I followed him before he finally pulled off at a country club. Knowing he was attacking and making him work for the initial pass was fun. He finally got by on a small hill and would look back periodically to see where I was and would get out of the saddle often to keep his speed up. Good times. Averaged 19 mph for a solid hour.

He came in earlier pretty sneaky like and pulled a bike off the rack asking "Which one is most expensive?"(inconspicuous, right?) I figured what he was up to and got between him and the door and talked him out of the shop.

Bout thirty minutes later I see the Kestrel come off the rack and I sprint after his ass. I catch up to him about a block away, get a hand on the bike and tell him to let go. He takes a wild swing at me so I punch him in the face then my coworker spear tackles his ass and gets him on the ground. Right about then we hear some sirens, as an UC swings a U turn. Turns out the cop was actually a counter terrorism agent and just happened to be there. He cuffs him and we wait for local PD. The actual cops took like 30 minutes to get there.

Luckily today is my Friday, haha.

I can't wait till I can race Keirins. Our track requires a cat3 for it, so hopefully I'll be able to weasel my way into it soon.

Today I almost got hit by a newpaper delivery woman.
She doesn't have a right hand drive vehicle, so she was on the wrong side of the road, then decided to get back in her lane as I was riding by. Managed to squeeze between her and the curb while yelling at her.

Great way to get the blood flowing at 5:45.

Come hang out in NJ, you'll get to ride a couple. I'm CAT 5, but our Wednesday night is always practice races, so racing is pretty relaxed. Smaller group as well, so the promoter knows that we all have an idea of what we are doing and will race safely.

I feel lucky to be able to get to do some motor pacing with a real derney as well. It's a blast.
