Ahh, I'm trying to play nice with the LBS. They're neighbors so I see them all the time.

Haven't tried avocado oil, but would definitely. Any green salad I make almost always has diced avocado in it. Supposed to be similar quality fat to olives.

Avocado oil is rad -- its literally just like olive oil.. I've been using coconut oil a lot lately though

Last night, over 4k feet of climbing in under 30 miles, all within the heart of SF. Pretty crazy that's even possible in a city.

Yup! Met Ruskin on it, he's cool. A lot of people were smart and brought MTB gearing; I was not. But at least I got some trophies out of the pain, I guess... https://www.strava.com/activities/341461609

I work on one of the steepest blocks of California (between Kearny and Grant) and walk up it fairly often on my lunch break. It sucks at first, but it's not that bad after awhile.

The hills will be come your friend here in SF.. Right before they kick you in the balls, set your face on fire and then rip your heart out followed by being run over by a cable car which causes your corpse to be dragged along the street because your stub of a leg is caught in the cable line

Be excited!

Yeah, well be prepared to be waiting for me at the top, while I stop somewhere near the middle and either:

A: Stop for a beer
B: Barf
C: Barf then grab a beer.

Wolfpack Hustle is going to do theirs within the next few weeks I believe... much faster pace than we did it, though.

I tried to just about every hill when I was there last year. Had my Straggler with mtb gearing. Some of those hills I was popping small wheelies while barely moving forward. Either stand and push a harder gear or get off and walk

Sweet. Stuff like that is why everyone there puts up with the astronomical cost of living.

I wouldn't still be living here if I wasn't lucky enough to have scored a nice rent controlled apartment 10 years ago under the older, stricter laws. It only goes up ~1.5% per year max; some years the landlord doesn't even bother raising it.

Did my first real group road ride on a geared bike. Seriously considered taking my fixed gear and am so glad that I did not, so is my ego. Gotta keep that in check. In my mind, I am in great shape. In real life on the bike, not so much. Did alright the first 20 miles out on the country roads which I hate riding in the lead pack. We did that first 20 miles in 1 hour, 1 second. The last 5 miles......oy. After the main pack broke away and the gap started, that was it. I could not keep up to catch it. This couple on a tandem were just killing it out there leading most of the way and a few times, I swear on everything I know, they were ACCELERATING up the hills. I pull up along side of the tandem at one point, and this couple is having a normal conversation. I am breathing like I just ran up 200 flights of stairs, and they are talking about their next ride. The last 5 miles were pretty rough out there by myself fighting that wind. I didn't pull into the lot last, so that was good.

It'll get easier. Some days you'll get dropped, other days you'll pull the pack.

Today I cleaned my bike for the first time in months. Turns out my cassette is silver, who knew?!
