There's people that make quilts out of the bags. You'll find quite a surprising few if you search for it on fleabay.

hahaha i think thats what they were made for. friend of mine growing up drank only that all the time, the amount of purple bags he had stashed everywhere with god knows what in them was hysterical. he even used one as a "wallet" when he went down to the store sometimes and didnt have pockets
whenever i see one i think of him and his stupid purple pouches everywhere

Back when I drank alcohol, I used to drink Crown Royal. I have tried other whiskies and this was the one that worked well for me. The regular stuff is good, and then it only gets better from there. Try some of the Cask 16 if you haven't yet. It is not the typical "cheap" whisky that sometimes Crown Royal is associated with. The price may have come down some since it has been a few years since I walked away from it, but the stores here had it for about $112 a bottle if my memory serves me correctly.

Last night I noticed that my bike's front end was going all wobbly when I went no hands. Today I found the reason. Headset was loose as a mofo.

Bulleit is my favorite, the 10 year is even better, but I save that for special occasions.
I did a little n+1ing today... 1985 Cannondale SR400 (I can confirm, based on serial, woohoo!)
I wasn't going to mess with it much. I swapped the saddle and did a quick loop around the neighborhood and realized it probably wouldn't be optimal for long touring rides in its current state, but it'd still make a great around town bike. After the ride around the neighborhood, I put it on the stand to get some photos of the serial number, etc. While it was up there I thought I'd swap the wheels just to see what I could get away with. The front wheel went on without issue and I was able to drop the brake pads down slightly to accommodate the 700c wheel. So I thought I'd try my luck on the rear wheel. It went in...it actually went in the dropouts easier than the wheels go in my carbon fuji. So I guess I can run modern wheels...and there's even tons of room for tires bigger than 700x32.
So now, I don't know what to do. There's a part of me that wouldn't mind throwing on some modern (or more current, anyway) wheels and a new drivetrain, swapping the downtube shifters for some bar end shifters on woodchipper style bars, throwing on some fat rubber and racks and making the touring bike it was meant to be. I'd like to keep the "vintage" style look though, guess I'll be scouring the internet tonight seeing what I can come up with.

Fresh Garbage
If I had one of those I would get some wide drop bars, like from VO, and Suntour barcons. Add a 110bcd crank to fit smaller chainrings and a wide range 8 or 9 speed cassette.
What's the rear derailleur on there? I prefer Suntour Cyclone GT RDs for their light weight and smooth precise shifting.

vo is the spot for the kinda stuff youre gonna be lookin for @SpeshulEd. i concur with everything @hairnet said (though no experience with the cyclone stuff)
if you get weird dirt drops look for the vo type ones, you want flare but not sweep. the woodchippers really arent great for the road. one thing to consider though is the hood positions on most of the weird drop bars are essentially worthless
i have some shimano 600 and other stuff you might be into. what spacing rear wheel did you get in there, 130? if so i haz wheels too

I worried about this too, but from what I can tell, the frame is sound. It's been hanging in a garage for years upon years.

aero brake levers
clamp on FD
31.8mm band on FD (i think, its rockin a beer can shim now)
1.5 short cage 8spd RD's (one is missing the ceramic bushing for the lower jockey wheel, dont ask.[can easily be replaced, i think VO has cheap plastic jawns])
2x stems (90 & 100mm)
dual pivot brakes (im not sure if @garlic_rice still needs them tho, hes got first dibs)
27.2 seatpost
8sp DT shifters
42t 130mm chainring (or maybe 110, i gotta check, stupid light)
wheels:
open pro ceramic : campy front/600 tricolor rear, 8/9sp (nice n light, invincible, will be black forever.)
sun cr18 : sturmey archer 70mm drum front/SA S3X rear (heavy, but nice n weird, front hub looks boss)
also haz:
cane creek scr-5 gum levers (well used, but functionally perfect)
suntour clamp on vx FD (gotta check size)
diacomp single pivot sidepull brakes
VO townie bars
VO rando bars
silver kalloy or something risers
couple other chainrings
2x un55 bbs (forget lengths)
feel free to pm me, lol

Cleaned up my bike, and even tried degreasing and relubing for the first time. It was really easy and kind of fun to take care of it.

What you do want to be careful of from that period are those epoxy'd together carbon tubed but aluminum lugged bikes. Those will get ya.

I went up a super long hill in a major headwind in the cold without enough sleep in me and a day of work. Pretty happy going about 4 miles uphill (with a little over .5 of a mile not included of some downhill) all that taken into account and me not having ridden fixed up that hill in a long time!
