Recently I learned that a friend's husband was run over by a truck while skating in the LES and didn't make it. Without going into specifics on how it happened, dude left a family behind and it made me re-evaluate my bike riding habits in NYC, cementing my position in the whole brakes vs no brakes debate. Pulled the trigger on decent brakes/levers so i can post in the 40+ thread next year.
Yay Mondays.

Watched that with a friend...holy moley they had a rough time. 60lb bike over rough terrain single speed with crappy falling apart tires and wooden rims. The end was super bummer but the story is inspirational and I will always remember it when touring.
On an unrelated note, I installed a new six speed freewheel and chain on the Cilo and rode around for all of a minute (just to make sure it was tight because it was cold as shiz). Slowly but surely I am getting all my bikes set and ready for riding. A few days ago I replaced the old seatpost which was a touch creaky and wouldn't hold the saddle tight and cleaned up the saddle and I also installed a chain and cog and chainring on the Langster. Now I just need to cable up the new touring bike and put a few other doodads and knick knacks and bric-a-brac on it and take that for a ride.

I know that feeling. I'm just finally coming back around after wrecking pretty hard a few weeks back, now it's too damn cold/windy to ride.

Installed a Chris King NoThreadSet on the Space Horse and put the fattie meats back on for some gravel this weekend.

Fresh Garbage
Thanks! It's the best T joint I've done without have to pause and adjust my torch positioning.

Had a scary commute this morning. It was as though the cars were out to get the bikes. Luckily, though, they missed...

Purdyful. Now onto putting tubes together Reyonlds 953 is fine or if you prefer Columbus XCr that is fine too. I would say about a 55cm single speed cross, with canti mounts, two sets of bottle cage bosses 1 1/18 HT and clearance for 35 tires ; )
Painfully average.
