Old converted schwinn sprint on CL.

I saw this bike on Craigslist, I am getting me a Jamis but I was also wanting to get another bike as well, for a collection of bikes.
I got a raise at work so now I can afford to get my Jamis from the shop and if this is a good bike I would getting this straight up as well.

This is the bike's ad.
https://louisville.craigslist.org/bik/3814002074.html

I am just wondering if this is a solid good bike and worth 200?

Thanks.

Steel rims and wacky cranks set off my alarm bells. The lack of a derailleur hanger and shifter bosses leads me to believe it's a pretty low end bike boom frame. Also looks like the fork may be bent, but that could just be a funky photographic glitch.

All in all, I wouldn't buy it myself.

Someone I met through email about bikes told me the same exact thing.
Thanks.
I will pass and just stick with my Beatnik for now as my only bike.

See that's why I ask you all, I would have never guessed or seen that the fork is bent.

Yeah stay away from that for $200. It looks like the guy might have just put a cog on a road hub I don't see a lock ring on there. There is no problem with suicide hubs if done right, I have made a few conversions with them (I use lock-tite and a BB lockring, if I can fit it) but I don't trust other people's suicide hubs. The fork is def. bent too. Offer the guy $50 (that's all it's worth) change out the fork and throw a freewheel on it.

He actually went for it, he said come and get it for 50. So I am going to grab it and just have it for a fix up bike.
Get it in nice shape and sell it or possibly keep it.
How does that sound?

To me it sounds like a headache since you will need to replace the fork...

It's likely to cost you more time and money in the end than it's really worth. I say if you want, buy it and put it on beater duty. Try to put as few dollars into it as possible.

That's what I was really wanting to do, something to be a little rough on.
Cause I am not wanting to do many roads where I live on the Jamis.

Another for "save your money" unless you can have it for ~$50

Wait, I just noticed the rattle can paint job. Maybe this should go in the Jackass thread.

Yeah he changed his mind when I was driving out to get the bike for 50, Said "sorry I've changed my mind on selling this bike, due to some sparked interest on the list."

So Its a no go.

You'll need a new fork and either to pay someone to do the work of swapping or doing it yourself, and with a fork like that I'd be checking for frame damage too that isn't visible to the naked eye. I'm glad for you that you didn't get it.
