Brooks Question
A week ago i ordered a black Brooks B17 and waited impatiently for it to arrive . . . when I got back from work today there it was waiting at my door. . . . I ripped open the box and alas . . . they sent me a honey B17 not a black one. . . . So now I can’t make up my mind . . . return it and wait or run with the honey . . . any suggestions?

eh, i think the honey is a nice accent. But do what you think is best. If you really want the black, don't mess around. You spent a decent amount of money on that saddle.

I think the honey works with the yellow highlights in your decals. And gives your bike a little "color"... lightens it up. different handlebar tape color choice and you could have a great looker...

Return and wait for the black!
I wish I could be out breaking in my new Brooks tonight but I know I don't have time.

Hi,
damn, my favorite B17 color is honey (I have had all 3 colors).
But all black would be stylin. If you found some tape close to the honey color of the saddle, it would look dandy. But since you want that Batman look, go for it.

You are so lucky! Now you have to buy another BIKE to match your new saddle.
I wish I had your luck.

Keep it! Then get gumwall tires and light colored tape.
The advantage of the honey color is that if you ride in jeans, it won't rub off as much.

Well, this goes to show you to never ask for advice on these forums about something like colors. You are going to get a zillion different answers!

How many posts until someone says the "you won't go back" thing? I know my instinct was to type it.

Thanks for all the suggestions . . . im leaning towards changing my grip tape . . . I just took it for a long spin and have bonded with it . . . I don’t think I can part with it now. my bike has a totally different attitude now (yea the new phil's help too I suppose) This thing is more comfy now – not broken in – than my old saddle!!

Well, I think the photo may lie a bit.
If I'm not mistaken your bike is a purplish color? So I'm looking at the black bar tape and too me that doesn't match either. So maybe a black seat would not have as much contrast, but it would still have some.
I say keep the seat and change the bar tape like others have mentioned. Actually I don't think it looks that bad, besides you will be sitting on it. If you are going to be commuting on it after a few days you wouldn't care what matches what.

hello
You can always dye your saddle to a darker color. I dyed my honey Conquest to a dark brown. Also dyed an antique brown Professional to black. I used hair color. No damage to leather and it's permanent.

BBQ seitan sandwich?
Ah, at first I was thinking that bike was black. Purple? I say keep the honey, re-wrap the bars with some "natural" (brown or tan) cork tape, and you will have one classy ride.

Ever seen a well-used honey one? The color changes - darkens where you sweat mainly - and looks very, very nice as it ages. I know your bike is black but I say keep the saddle and watch it change.

Didn't Donald Rumsfeld comment on this specific matter?
You ride with the saddle you got, not the saddle you want

That Flite is a dark navy. I saw keep it - it'll start to darken or as The Fixer noted, you could dye it and as others have said, get some natural cork tape or something similar (maybe leather) and match it.
