The Hive "Chubb" hubs, bling or quality?

    Hello all,

So I was looking on fgg and I came across a sweet schwinn traveler build. What really caught my eye though was the rear hub the guys had. It resembled the mash bullhorns except they were hubs (obviously). So you can find them on this website called "the hive". Here's the url: http://bythehive.com/chub-hubs/chub-fixed/
Anyway yeah. I would like to know if they're quality or just hipster bling.

Conceptually, it's more a gimick for people with deep pockets, supposedly makes a stiffer/ more durable wheel that stays true longer with shorter spokes that are offset by the hub diameter. It's never been a problem historically that hubs with small flanges are "weak" creating a need for this hub.
You get what you pay for anyhow, the hub shell is carbon fiber while the flanges are aluminium. That hub has no reason to be part of a conversion build.

That being said, if the complete is cheap, go for it. Can't go wrong with having one either just as long as you dont pay MSRP.
