Whatups guys, I'm brand new to bikes in general really. I haven't biked regularly in a few years now, and I wanna get back into it.
Are either of these a good deal? They're both ridiculously cheap.

patience and look and keep looking on craigslist sometimes you get super deals but you have to be quick

for some reason on this list people have an adversion to fixed gear bikes reasonably priced. I think they are both good deals. Make sure you dont buy a bike with too small of a frame.
Dont forget these are single speed bikes, the reason they can build them cheap. Doesnt mean they are junk, I love mine.

I paid 160 for a Pure fix from a guy that never road it,,he did something to the front wheel that caused the paint to peel, but the bike was never ridden.

he asked if they were good deals, someone posted "no". A few days ago a guy listed about 20 different fixed gear bicycle manufactures and said they were all junk. That is just nonsense.

Unless you are very informed about used bicycles, craigslist is a dangerous place to buy a used bike. 90 percent are being sold by flippers who misrepresent and over price their bikes. I know what I am talking about I have bought and sold over 300 bikes on craigslist in the last 4 years.

"Reasonable" is a subjective measure. If you are inexperienced and ignorant, then these sub $200 SS/FG bikes may seem "reasonably" priced, but they are generally ****ty bikes. When you say they can build them cheap because they are SS, you are overlooking the potential for ****ty components not related to shifting (i.e. wheels, brakes, etc.). Your bike was probably ~$300+ new, so to equate your bike (which is still not that great) with a cheap piece of garbage is inaccurate.

The bikes OP listed are not quality bikes. The first bike is a Vilano Drift, which my shop regrettably decided to sell last summer. These bikes are terrible and many customers complained from all the problems associated with low-quality part spec. The second bike appears marginally better, but has stupid geometry, non-machined rims which will not work well with front brake, and a steel crankset. To tell a novice that these are good bikes is woefully misinformed and poor advice.

The current tendency for kids to buy some pile of **** rather than building their own conversion is really pissing me off. Why don't you guys learn how to turn a ****ing wrench, for god's sake?

Well I paid 160 for a complete fixie, I am a bike nut but never owned a fixie. I was going to build my own, but didnt want to put all that work unless I was going to use good materials, so I was going to buy a Raleigh 531 frame,,offered 150 for it the guy came back with 175..and I wasnt sure at age 60 i would put a fixie to good use. figured once done with the 531 I would have 5 hundred to 8 hundred into it that I could never get back outta it. I am glad I got the Pure Fix it is great fun, the first night I had it I rode 20 miles on it. I have a lot of experience with refurbishing classic bicycles. My Pure fix sure doesnt seem like junk. The guy I bought it from didnt have a clue how to put a bike together, so I had to go through it myself. I didnt run into problems you normally have with Chinese junk. Everything lines up no easliy stripped nuts and bolts no funny bends in the steel or anything,,I was rather surprised and glad I didnt build my own.

As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. And you're digging pretty deep in the barrel O' misfits.

On another note, bike in 2nd link has some off the hook fork rake.

If your budget is that tight, I would just save up some more to get a bike that you'll actually like to ride/ be proud to have.

Building a fixed gear/ss is complicated now? I've rode a Vilano bike and it was complete garbage and would be afraid to put some power into it for fear of something breaking.

Nobody said it was complicated, I can build one in my sleep,,getting the right parts together to make the bicycle worthwhile and the cost to make it worthwhile is the concern.

I dont need a fixie made outta an old Free spirit with rigged up fixed gear backwheel.

I am happy as can be with my Pure fix I put a hundred miles on it and have had no problem what so ever, it is a blast to ride. I am 60 years old and never rode a fixed gear before.

I like this one from Bikes Direct.

I still find it amusing that its name is "Cafe Fixie" but it only comes with a freewheel. So much for the fad thing.
