    Checking Campy Veloce BB and SR single speed crank

    Hey all,
    I'm going to install a SR crank with a single 48t ring on it, onto a Campy Veloce BB. I'm wondering why the fixed require more space in the spindle than a double or triple? Also, wanting to make sure the SR cranks will fit on my Veloce- I read somewhere just now they may not. Any help appreciated.

    Below is the note from the seller of crank and BB: 111mm minimum, common Campy BB come with 102mm for road or 111mm for all Campy track/pista crankset.
    We rarely see 107mm bottom bracket, not sure this must be a recommended by Campagnolo 107mm+ for clearance.
    The Record carbon shell w/aluminum cups is lighter but the price is 3 times more than the steel shell w/aluminum cups, but both are seal bearing. The weight of carbon BB is 6.6oz and steel BB is 11oz, in business we would like to offer you the lighter weight and higher price item. But honestly, we have used steel on our bikes but hard to tell the different...so please let us know which one you like.

    Never heard of using a 111mm spindle for a SS/FG setup.

    For starters, SR made a bunch of cranks. What's the model? Driveside picture of the crank? Help us help you.

    That's obviously a Campagnolo crankset, where'd you get SR? Strada was (I think) a compact road crankset so you need to look up its suggested spindle & then try to extrapolate what length would work with a single ring. However...

    I can state with certainty that Campy Record Pista cranks require a 111mm bottom bracket: http://www.campagnolo.com/jsp/en/gro...A_catid_17.jsp

    Maybe that's where the seller got the BB specs he suggested?

    So it appears to be a Campy SR Strada from 1983. It seems to be a close or correct sized spindle according to Velospace. Fingers crossed!

    Oops. I men, that didn't have 165mm listed, so this one, which is Nouvo Record, is listed as having 165mm. Must be that, which means it seems to like 112mm spindle. Will report in. http://velobase.com/ViewComponent.as...=115&AbsPos=23

    So, "SR"as in "Super Record," not "SR" as in "Sakae Ringyo."

    The Super Record crank was designed for an asymmetrical spindle, but IIRC the Veloce spindle is symmetrical.

    Nuovo Record uses the same arm as Super Record (actually, both are correctly termed "Record," with the chainrings and bottom bracket the distinguishing factors for Super Record), so if they fit differently, one may have a worn mounting broach.
