Just finishing up new Peugeot project -- Not what you think....
Years ago in this forum I remember seeing a deathtrap-hybrid of a bmx bike and a fixed gear. It was from a rider in Toronto, Shiznaz (RIP). Over the years I've lost the pics of his Haro, but never forgot the idea.
Flashforward to a donated Peugeot CPX200 bmx bike and some slow time at work. Despite the obvious flex in the seatpost, it hasn't started cracking yet after a few weeks of playing around on it. I've got a sissybar ordered to triangulate the saddle. I've done alot of different riding on it already. This morning was my first time riding fixed offroad. Alot of fun, although some knobs on the front tire would have been nice. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/150...c/812/20r4.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/150.../c/27/t29d.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/150...c/194/qhyw.jpg |

But seriously, long term plans are to use it as a non-lockup bike. Once the sissy bar gets installed, I'm thinking of putting a wire basket on it. Total investment is under $20, so if someone wants/needs it and can ride away on it then it's theirs. Funny story, somebody tried to steal my Ti fixie once. Brakeless and eggbeatered, he didn't make it out of the parking lot before he went down. |
That seatpost is an eyesore. I don't get it
|
That seatpost screams of a bad idea with a side of road rash on your posterior.
On another note, peugeot BMX bikes are rad. |
im gonna mess you up..
|
I've bent seat posts on bmx before, and that was a regular length seat post.
For the record: I approve of this project... and all crazy ass projects |
Would ride until it killed me.
|
It just occured to me: sw33t wheelies fo' dayz.

That Peugeot looks like loads of fun. Here's a folding bike I recently converted to fixed...

You guys are all wrong about the seatpost. It isn't going to break because it turns out it is actually an aluminum Bontrager Select handlebar! EN Mountain Safety certified should keep you from piercing your taint, eh?
Please tell me you at least have a shim from 7/8" to the 24.0mm size that is supposed to be in there. #IthaDan , please turn some 1" steel tubing on a lathe for this man! |
