On the topic of parts, possibly get some h plus son 42s if you want to hop curbs. I agree on the suginos but can also do the omniums for a cheaper thing but the BB fails apparently.

I love my Supertype seat post. The only thing to be aware of is that the shape limits how far down into the seat post it can go. This probably isn't a problem for most but I like my frames with a high top tube (to get the head and hence the handlebars up to saddle height).
The only argument I have with the Supertype is that it doesn't have infinite angle adjustment, it's annoying when you find the ideal seat angle is half way between two teeth.

Your cog is slipping.
Nah, that would be Angie.
"Perfect chain line" isn't anything to lose sleep over but I'll definitely help with advice and whatnot.
Also, I had a 28c Pasela TG on my BK without any trouble. The wheel just had to be pulled back a little further to clear the chain stays.

Sorry to get off topic but its always comical to me reading some of the snobby roadie responses on here when somebody comes on asking for advice or help. I have one of those D****E bags that delivers to my work once a week, "If its not a 5500 dollar Colnago frameset, it's S**T" It's like there so much brighter with unlimited bank accounts, there stepping across the backs of the lesser peasants to get to the bike shop, Anyways, to the OP, I don't really have any advice but wish you the best on the build.

Cheers guys.. it is a bit on the over-the-top side, but that is what I'm after. It is a toy to help me pass some time since my mother passed away this week and a project to build with my old man. Plus, I use the bike a lot to get around here in the city.
Just realised I've been riding every day for 19 days straight, have been using it to de-stress.. guess I should take a break! I'm sure my knees/thighs (I think it is tendonitis) will sort emselves out with some proper rest.
Thanks. I like to take the at-times great advice that comes from people like the ones you described, so you have to take the good with the bad! I've appreciated every response so far.
I'm going to give a few local frame builders a call and look into getting a custom steel track frame. I also wonder whether I am being ******** with those spokes. They cost just about as much as my entire current bike.

Cheers guys.. it is a bit on the over-the-top side, but that is what I'm after. It is a toy to help me pass some time since my mother passed away this week and a project to build with my old man. Plus, I use the bike a lot to get around here in the city.

Custom frame? Wait until you see what that will do to your budget! The spokes will seem cheap.

Yeah, I was a bit mislead because they had some cheap ones listed that customers didn't pick up. Back to reality again now!

condolences re your mom.

80mm stem with risers seems like a flag to me. are you sure that's the right length stem? or are you sure you should be on a 54cm bareknuckle?
i'd also consider using sapim race (or laser) over cx rays. they are a lot cheaper. if you're building the wheelset yourself you'll probably have an easier time with the race spokes if you've never built wheels before.
how much do you weigh? 36h is a lot. 32h could also be more than you need depending on your body build, especially with those rims.

I'm 5"10 with a 32.2" inseam, and I weigh 80kgs. From wrist to wrist I am 146cm
I believe that the 54cm will suit well as I have heard the BareKnuckles feel bigger than they are, but to be honest I was just guessing with that stem length choice. I have heard that risers are good for street/city use, but I actually prefer the look of regular drops. I ride in my drops quite often up hills and on sprints on my current bike too. Ultimately I decided on the risers since everyone raves about them for city use, and they're much lighter, but if you had a suggestion I'd likely take it.
I'll keep that in mind regarding the difficulty with the cx rays. We did build some wheels a few years ago, Dad has done it a few times and there's always Google! Is it much more difficult?

i would guess that the 54cm BK (with 55cm top tube length) should indeed be the right size for you then assuming normal proportions.
typically with risers you would have a longer stem than you would with drops. i don't know all your measurements (have you done a fit calculator?) and what kind of fit you're shooting for but 80mm just sounds short to me. i like my risers to be long and low, but YMMV. i like my risers for city use as well.
at your weight i would think a 32h SL42 front and rear should be more than adequate. spoke choice is up to you and it sounds like you and your pops will be just fine with the wheel build but wowzers $200 of spokes is a lot! lulz.

Haha! I'll probably end up being sensible when ordering time comes and get regular spokes.
I'll switch stem up for a 100mm. I did a few calculators, is there one you would recommend?
I've had such great suggestions, I am really excited about the bike!

I just took a closer look to your laundry list.
There's no way you need CX-rays @ that price..... especially on a 36H SL42; that's just wrong.
Brass nipples are optional too.

Your cog is slipping.
Also, it's made of nicer steel.
Aero spokes are dumb unless you're racing.
