Deal Alert ! Windsor Clockwork on sale at bikesdirect for $169.95

For realz. I just bought one, but the downside is that the only size they have is 43cm. Great for short folks like me. Awhile back bd had them on closeout for $269.95, which is a decent price, but at just $169.95 I couldn't resist.

I'm 5' 2" and ride a 43 Windsor Tourist. Makes sense.

You must have gotten the last one. When I ordered mine the 43cm size was the only one left. Did you also get yours at the $169.95 price ?

Yeah I ordered it on thanksgiving and got the sale price. I must have ordered it right when they put the sale on because the deal never showed until I actually clicked on the thumbnail. Good thing I was checking online for deals because of Black Friday

Damn you TejanoTrackie and your tempting ways. I have no need for another bike, really. Right?

$169 flat to your door is a steal w/ no tax & free shipping. I would buy it in a heartbeat if I lost a couple inches to my stature. |
Darn, need a few more dollars set aside after christmas shopping just put the hit on me. I need a wheelset and for the same price I can get a complete bike, use all the pars on another frame and still have a cute wall-hanger frameset for the garage!

Well, after waiting 3 days for UPS to move my bike 55 miles from the bd warehouse to my house it finally arrived late yesterday after dark. So last night I out it together and this morning I took a pic of it outside on a cold rainy day. I plan on leaving it pretty much stock for the time being, except for the pedals. The only change I made was to replace the stock 16T freewheel with a more practical 18T Shimano fw I had in my parts bin, and added a link to the chain. I also swapped out the really cheap brake blocks that can't be adjusted for toe-in with some spares I had, and replaced the cable adjuster on the front brake caliper with one that has a rubber O-ring to protect the frame paint when the front wheel is turned fully. The stock Kenda tires are marked 700x25c, but in reality are much narrower and there is lots of room both front and rear for larger tires, so I'm looking to replace them with at least 700x28c heavy duty tires in the future. I weighed it as shown in the pic at 22.7 lbs, which makes it the lightest SS bike I now own by over 2 lbs. This is the third bike I've purchased from BD, and by far the best in terms of initial quality. There were no missing, broken or incorrect parts and assembly required the least amount of work yet. To those of you procrastinators, there's still time to get in on this deal. :)

how are the wheels? anchors? I've been looking to get a wheelset and I was trying to keep it light, I considered Wabi but but may just settle for "good enough" with my current budget being x-massed out. $169 seems decent if I get a whole bike load of parts with it as well.

thanks, worth considering as I'm always pushing bikes out the door and refurbing vintage bikes so it is tempting to get a bunch of parts I can use, sort of makes the wheels pay for themselves. Maybe the frame will even serve as a start point for my Niece as she grows, hmm. I'm not super picky and am very familiar with loose ball bearings so I'll give it some thought.

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=355197Got the 49cm in black last week but finally put it together before going to study for finals. After I studied I didn't even go straight home, I just took a nice quick ride and it was awesome. For $169 with free shipping you can't beat it.

I'm liking mine too. Today I finally got in a decent ride on it with the first nice weather in over a week, and it rides really nicely with the stock tires, so I'll probably keep them until they wear out.
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=355250 Edit. Today the weather was even nicer and I went for an even longer ride. This bike handles hills easily and has a great ride. I flipped the stem up to raise the bars so they are now about level with the saddle. Here's another better pic: http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=355339 |
Update - They are all sold out.
Well, that's it folks. As of today the last 43cm Windsor Clockwork is gone. The next best clearance item at BD is a Gravity Swift ssfg bike for $259.95.

I was about to pull the trigger but a basically new Kona Paddy Wagon in my size came up locally for a good price. Nearly did it though
