Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Bang For Your Buck Fixed/Single, Under 500$

Been looking around online and found a leftover Mercier Kilo TT in chrome, I love chrome, for just under 500. Anything out there you guys know of with possibly around this price range new that's decent? I generally ride a 56cm frame, I don't race or anything so it will be for weekend launches down the greenway here in town, also I don't have any cool hipster friends that I ride with that I should worry about having the best or lightest bike in the group so i'm open to most anything.

Most around here are just going to say Kilo TT, so might as well get that. Kilo TT pro is worth the extra $50 if they have your size

If it's any consolation, since the Kilo TT will probably be your best bet, I'm still beating on a Kilo TT frame 5 years later as a beater bike.

I really like the Dawes SST-AL too. Worth a shot.

This. Different look from the Kilo TT is you like it, and its just as nice. I own a Kilo TT Pro and a SST AL and they both ride very similarly. If you're between these two in the end, you can basically go on looks alone.

But one is steel and one is aluminum/carbon fork. Both have good components for the price
