What is a better bike to get?

Okay so me and my wife have gotten better jobs and can now splurge on things we like.
I've been looking at bikes and I found a few that I liked but these two were really speaking to me.
There is a gios evolution an a mercier kilo tt.
I have gets a lot of great things bout both bikes.
But not for sure which one of these are better, seeing as he gios was converts and rebuilt.
And te mercier has different parts.

    Here is he gios
    http://lexington.craigslist.org/bik/4124002882.html

And the mercier has no pictures and not really a description about te bike.
I am going to message him and ask him what new parts are on it and what they are.

I know the wheels and rim cobo are ridiculous on the gios and thats really the only problem I can't et over with it.
But when he writes me bak about the mercier ill be sure to post what they are.
But just on a knowledge based opinion what bike is better over all?

Thank you and I appreciate the responses.

Which of those two fits you? There looks to be 10cm difference in the size of those two frames. If you fit the tall one, you'll hurt trying to fit the small one. If you fit the small one, you probably won't reach the pedals on the tall one.

Whats wrong with your Jamis? I don't think either of these bikes will be a huge upgrade from what you have

Absolutely nothing, just alway loved the idea of Gavin a back up and collecting bikes.
I was honestly just contemplating fixing my bike up and not worrying about writing a we one.
I just love the build and geometry o the gios and their really awesome bikes.
But if I were to make my bike a little nicer and better in geometry what would you suggest if I wanted to completely overhaul my bike?

The Gios looks like it's a road frame with vertical dropouts, so it's a poor choice for a fixed gear setup. Also, the dropout spacing is probably 126mm, so your choices in rear track wheels is limited. Even though the frame is very nice, I would definitely pass on this one.

Okay thank you so much tejano, I have heard when you convert they cause problems on the rear tire. I appreciate it.
I am passing on this one.
    Thanks.

Does anyone on here possibly have a lugged fork and some deep track bars?

Every wheel set from velomine can be spaced to the proper spacing for free if asked.

Well, the link to the Gios 404'd, so unless you pulled the trigger, you're too late.

Yeah he said he was holding it for me until the first after the holiday rush.
So you think it would be a good deal?

Dude honestly, I wouldn't buy a bike with vertical dropouts unless it was like a cross-check. If you really like that bike buy it, I think it's a little over priced and not worth it with what you have already. The components look pretty cheap, what're you looking for that you're not getting out of the Jamis?

My point exactly. If you have money to burn now why not get something that gives you a different ride like alum/carbon track bike, single speed cyclocross or even a geared road bike.

Its hard to describe, closer geometry something a bit faster something built more durable something nicer with a better feel and ride.

Thats exactly what I want sothi with a different ride quality.
Ive got a friend who is a cyclocross racer and i love his bike and i love the idea of just going into the trails and riding inthe wikderness.
I also always wanted a nice carbon road geared bike.
But people want a little more than i would choose to spend.
But if you have any bikes in mind that i have described you think would be what im after please give me some ideas.
    Thank you so much.

That bike isn't going to give you a much different ride quality over the bike you have now. If anything it might just be a little bit more relaxed geo.

Okay thanks, so you have possibly any preferences that would be an upgrade.

I understand your desire to buy another bike (we all suffer that), but why do you feel the need to 'upgrade'. You've got a bike you seem to like, have you considered just putting some nicer components on it.
I had a good bike ... so I FIXED it

Its crazy i just want to start a collection out of nowhere. I just love bikes and wat to surround myself with them.
Oh yeah I love my bike.
That's what I'm going to do, I found a pair of nitto b123 for cheap, a lugged fork for cheap and still looking for a wheel set.
I found 2 more bikes online I found a leader 722 and a big shot bike for cheap. But probably going to just spice of my bike and be happy. Thanks.
