Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

My single speed choice.

After years of 'steel is real', modern times have caught up with me.

My carbon single speed.

It's a track frame with front fork drilled for a brake. It works ok on the flat!

Its a very good frame, aimed at track racing, and not the posing I do with it. Its bonehard, not particularly light, and after some getting used to (because of the different characteristics from my roadbikes) it handles quite well. Just the speedbumps over here are a bit of a nuisance!
I consider this bike a environmentally free cafe racer, but its pretty good at riding a bit longer distances. You just have to remember that there are no waterbottle bosses on the frame!
I get a lot of attention with it, and thats pretty good!

I have been thinking about getting that exact same frame, as a matter of fact I will get it next month since right now the Chinese are on vacation. The only difference will be that I will have mine drilled by my LBS so I can put a couple of water bottles on it. Looks great!

Thanks kansukee!
I have a Shimano MX30 freewheel on it, which I think is pretty ****ty. There are not a lot of alternatives, besides the White Industries one of course. Suggestions?

Btw: finish and quality of my frame and seatpost are flawless.

If there's a SS+fixie for the 60+ thread, I can certainly join that one.

Well, I'm 59 and regularly ride a fixed as well as a SS (and of course a road bike when I'm slummin' it). Fixed isn't really any tougher but it works different muscles, well, differently. I'd recommend all three for the full experience!

I dig it. The red really compliments the rest of the conservatively colored bike.

Wabi sell a "deluxe" freewhell, but I haven't tried it.
