I have a Lumina 650 that I have had for a few years and it is a great light. Works just fine and has plenty o' light and is easily charged in a wall socket by plugging the USB cord into a iPhone brick or using the LG phone Charger I have which is a micro USB. If I wanted to get real fancy I could get one of those USB wall sockets

Well, I don't own one of them fancy smart phones, just a plain old Nokia flip phone with a regular AC adapter to recharge it. Anyways, all my lights are either generator or use cheap AA or AAA alkaline batteries that I buy in bulk at Sam's Club. It seems to me that for the cost of one of those lithium-ion rechargeable battery lights that they should include the AC "brick" along with the USB cable, the way they did with my iPad.

Also my Exposure Diablo came with both an ac charger and a usb, so there are plenty of options out there.

Is there a risk of damaging the smaller battery or circuitry if you charge it at a higher current ? Just asking.

you can also look on the charger box and it shows you the compatible (albeit fruit brand) devices, of which my phone is included

Mind you, using an iPad charger on the smaller iPhones like pre-iphone 6 will wear the battery faster than normal.

Actually, not true. The device being charged will only pull as much current as it can handle. A larger power supply does not force more power to the device being charged. It only makes more power available to something that can use it.

Edit: stupid comment.
Science will always win. But I used to charge my iPhone 5s no differently than I did any of my other iPhones, except that I was using an iPad charger every night. And when I would run diags on my battery, in less than a year 15-or-so percent was knocked off my total charge capacity. Which is way more than normal.

Seems the issue isn't completely settled.
Stanford Engineering - Rapid charging and draining doesn’t damage lithium ion battery electrodes as much as thought

I used one of these things. I have a lot of stuff to charge, and not enough outlets in my room. Charges my phone from 5% to full in about an hour with the right cable.
