OK, so you're looking to spend less than $500 on a good quality SSFG bike, don't want a Kilo TT but still want a chromoly steel frame made in Taiwan instead of China. How about a fyxation Pixel ?

Looks like it's what they used to call "tri-moly" back in the day - cromo main tubes, but a hi ten rear triangle. Haven't seen that in a while.

I saw this bike on the website a few weeks ago and seems interesting. I bought a Eastside frame set to replace my Dolan which was a little too big and too stiff for my taste as a daily commuter. I've been very happy with my Eastside for the money. I was trying to figure out what differentiates the Pixel from the Eastside. Pixel has braze ons for rear rack and cable guides but that's all I could see from the specs

Thing is, the advertised weight is only 23 lbs. Given that it has fairly heavy wheels to start with, it suggests thin/butted tubing in the rear triangle and fork, which is rarely the case with hi-ten steel.

Where do you see the details about the hi ten rear triangle?

Which isn't to imply the frame won't hold up, tri-moly is pretty durable. It's just heavy and sort of dead feeling.

Well, you must not need clearance for wide tires or need to mount a bottle cage to hydrate.

Yeah man the 32c tire clearance does it for me. Would be a good cheap replacement if something ever happened to my Steamroller. I'm using 32c soma everwears now, they're alright but I like bigger comfy tires. I would prob throw that wabi wheelset on this build though to lighten it up a little bit.
