Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Need an opinion on this frame

So my old fixed gear got stolen so I need a new bike asap for school
I was looking around Craig's and found this cheap 1970 Gitane/velo sport frame
I don't know if I wanna buy it considering it to be 40 years old...
The dealer says it has no cracks dents and the condition is fair
It also comes with cranks so Ilove that
To me it seems like a good price but I don't know anything about this frame
Give me some opinions about it THANKS
Gitane/Velo Sport single speed

French threading and dimensions, so you will have a hard time finding a quill stem and bar that fits, and missing some headset parts. Frame is low end bike boom era, equivalent to a Peugeot UO8 etc. Cranks are nice Sugino Mighty, but French bottom bracket may need replacement. So, basically I vote no.

There's a thread for questions like this. It isn't that much money so it wouldn't be crazy to build it up if you know it is your size. Is it your size? Nothing is worth it if it isn't your size.
