35? That means hipster parents and god forbid a few grandfathers, crude. I'd say the cutoff is immediately after puberty.

I get called a hipster a lot. I ride a fixed gear, have a beard, drink coffee and craft beer constantly, and I prefer pants that fit as opposed to baggy clothes.

I've always considered myself to be more of a punk rocker who chooses to not dress like a moron and beg for attention.

Eh, might be the baby of a punk rocker, which actually means all hipsters (assuming a 35 YO cutoff). This is finally beginning to make sense. Can't vouch for how your genome was altered by all them Disco era chems. OMG! That's the origin of hipsters! Cross breeding between the Disco set and Punk.

That could be considered hipster in certain circles.

My first concert was Loretta Lynn, I think I was 10 and went with my parents. My first concert by myself was Smashing Pumpkins, when I was 15. I think I'm more nerd than anything. Yay computers!

I'm not a hipster but I liked this thread before everyone else. But now that everyone seems to like it I hate it. All those bridge and tunnel types seem to try to like all the threads I like.

everyone has some hipster tendencies, it's just a matter of degree and where you draw the line.

i'm pretty sure my love of pop music/top 40's will keep me out of the moniker in most people's books.

I'm yelling timberrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

For me there's always been two kinds of hipster; those that follow and prescribe to what is hip and do their thing to make sure they've kept up, and those that follow the previous type, do what they do, and don't really know why except that they persons they look up to or idolize are doing it. So they do it to appear in the know or to fit in.

The negative connotation has always been associated with fake in my mind. For instance 23 year olds riding Leaders "brakeless" with Toshi's and Nuevos but they're actually running a coaster brake, but never coast so you think it's fixed. Or guys that buy Plain White T's albums on vinyl cause it "sounds better". Or people that claim they have a gluten allergy causing problems as I make their food then order a Fat Tire. Alright that doesn't really fall exclusively under hipster, but I hate those people.

I ride a fixed gear, snowboard, wear skinny jeans with toe shoes, have super long hair, pretty much only listen to ska and 2000's pop punk, read Asimov, and judge people. I'm a hipster.

Since I'm so old, I had to wait for this thread to develope in order to see exactly what was involved with this whole hipster thing.

As it turns out, I'm not only past the hipster expiration date, but seem to only have FG bikes in common.

Kidz, please....First concert: When the police hauled Gracie Slick off the Akron Rubber Bowl stage while performing with Jefferson Airplane. Sheesh, I belong in the Smithsonian, I guess.

Now that I've also revealed how ancient I am, I can chime in that Jefferson Airplane was my 1st concert too - late '67 in Cincinnati, which is where Marty Balin was born, so we all were excited to think of it as his "homecoming". Cannot remember a bit of it

I guess I could be a hipster. I wear plastic rim glasses because they don't bend like metal ones when I fall sleep wearing them, I've gained weight so my jeans are noticeably tighter making them appear like skinny jeans, and I have my ears gauged. So yeah, I'm a hipster.
