few questions...
I've got a squeak in my bb and it's only at one part of the rotation, about an inch on the chainring side. I was wondering if i should be concerned and get some lube there or it's nothing to worry about?
Also, I keep hearing about framesavers that you can get to treat the inside of the frame. What does it do and is it something i should look into since i ride a steel frame? how is it applied?
One last thing is why is it that if I pass a roadie on my roadie they'll generally acknowledge me, but if I do it on my fixie they look at me like i'm an idiot? thanks and anything you wanna add to a relative new fixie rider is welcome.

the squeak: if nothing ele.. they are annoying.. but never rule out the pedals.. they resonate through the cranks and make it sound like its coming from weird places.. or take the cranks off and degrease the axl..
framesaver: never used.
the roadie: i rode next to a roadie one day in hollywood.. seemed liek a cool guy.. not a roadie dork.. but like one of those cool roadies if there is such a thing.. and he said..
"are you a messenger?"
me: "no"
him: " do you race?"
me:"no"
him(with befuddlement..) "what do you do?"
me(laughing now) "i ride bikes.. what do you do?"
the point is.. i dont know why they dont understand at all.. its still a bike.. not much of an answer.. just some bro-down

2. Framesaver is a treatment that keeps the steel from oxidizing. I guess it's like a primer or paint type thing more than an oil. I've never used it. If you don't ride a lot in the rain/snow and you keep your bike inside, you probably don't need to worry about it. On the other hand, it isn't that much money, so it might be a case where you can say "better safe than sorry."
3. I have no idea. Do you dress differently when you ride the fixie?

Maybe it IS the clothing. Pretty much the only time I ride my roadie is on training rides and so have my roadie gear on with the tights and all. I passed quite a few roadie the other day on the brooklyn bridge and all of them ignored me when i gave em a friendly nod, but i guess fixies riders did that too... I guess it's just me... nevermind

I'm pretty sure, it doesn't seem to be the pedals and I don't think chains make squeaking sounds. Do I need to take out the bb or can i just drips some lube into the spindle part?

Pull the cranks, pull the BB, clean the BB and the BB shell (get as much of the old lube off as possible), lube with fresh grease, install BB, install cranks. Very easy if you have the tools.
