Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Is My Wheel Heavy?

So I got my new wheel a few days ago. It set up with a H+Son SL42 some straight 2mm spokes and a high flange phil wood hub.
The overall weight is 1175 grams without tube and tire.
So is this real heavy for this type of wheel? I mean my old wheel from my 300$ bike weighs about 50 grams less with a cheap low flange hub and a cheep deep V which is 30mm deep.

So what do you think? Is the weight ok or did I should go with something lighter?

Looking from just the components, that's a heavy build from the getgo.

There's nothing wrong with that. I'd just ride it considering you just received it and haven't ridden it much. There's plenty of people who ride on formation face's/ SL42's and they're just fine with the weight.

If you want light, you should've went for DA7600's & one of those new wider rims like the archetype or even lighter with a front road QR hub.

I've raced on a velocity b43 and still did fine, it's usually the motor of the vehicle, not the components.
