Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Fixed/SS rental in Portland??

Hey all. Going to Portland tomorrow, and was wondering if anyone knew of a shop where I could rent a single-speed or fixed gear bike? It's what I'm used to riding, and I don't really want to screw up my conditioning and pedaling by riding some upright city bike for two weeks. Thanks.

P.S. I am aware of the previous thread regarding this; however, it was from 7 years ago.

see how much it would cost to bring your bike with you. Some airlines only charge $50 each way which would be cheaper than renting. Not too sure how the bike needs to be set up to go on the plane.

Check out waterfront bikes and Portland cycle rentals or whatever on nw 4th and davis. I know the one on fourth has single speeds to rent out, I highly doubt you are gonna find a fixed since it's a liability issue for the shop.

I'd fly your bike with you though, its gonna be cheaper than renting a bike since its about twenty bucks a day.

Thanks all. I did look into bringing it, but Delta charges $150 to bring it;however, it's a crap shoot apparently if they actually charge you.
