New ACS Freewheel....issues after installation. Any thoughts?

New ACS Freewheel....issues after installation. Any thoughts?
So i picked up my ACS freewheel today.
Installation was a ***** for a number of reasons:
1. it took me some time to realize that i needed equal parts spacing on both sides of the wheel fixed/free which resulted in tire rubbing one side of the rear
2. the first and second time taking the wheel off then putting it back on the tire would completely lock up and not move forward.
3. Finally got the spacing right and the tire to "accept" the freewheel if you will.
However now my issue is im having what i can only describe as a "pressure pop, or clanking, knocking feeling coming from the crank". This happens when i am applying a lot of force down on the crank and almost always seems to happen when im coming down with my lead foot from top of the apex through the revolution.
Any thoughts??

with all the trouble even getting the tire to pass through the stays, i wouldn't be surprised if you have a bad chainline problem. it and possibly a too loose chain, can cause, IME, the chain to hang up on a tooth once in a while causing a noise like that you've described.
BTW, i've been using those ACS Crossfire, if that's what it is, freewheels now for about four or five years.
