Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

GT Meatball

Anybody ever been on one of these? I live in the middle of nowhere and can't actually see one, but I'm thinking of ordering. Any opinions? I realize these aren't actually single speed, but whatever.

I haven't ridden one, but I can say that enjoy the ride quality of GT's "triple triangle" frames. I rode GT bikes throughout much of the late 80's to mid '90s and still have fond memories of how well they handled.

Have you ever ridden a 2-speed kickback, like on some old Schwinns? I am not a big fan and would not pay $800 for a bike with a coaster brake and cheap looking rims. I feel like you could easily purchase a cheaper SS/FG and get a wheel built with a Sturmey S3X hub or some other IGH and be much better off.
