TT Brakes on Bullhorns (flip chop) help

I recently purchased tektro 4.1 time trial brake levers for my bike that has flop chop bullhorn bars. The brakes are compatible with 19mm inner bar diameter and up however they don't fit at all in my homemade bullhorns at all.

Are my handlebars oddly small? Are Time Trial brakes destined to fail on any chopped handlebar because of a difference in inner bar diameter at different points in the bar vs the end of the bar?

Any one else have any luck with flip chop bullhorns with tt brakes?

    Thanks,
    Andy

Perhaps you could have measured the inner diameter of your homemade bullhorns before buying the brake levers? I mean, not to be a dick, but... the levers advertised what size bar they'd fit, so you had a way to prevent this problem.

So yeah, your handlebars are oddly small in relation to the levers you bought. Or they're just weird and oddly small and won't work with any lever. Measure first, then buy.

I used a stepped drill bit from and autoparts store to port the end of my old flip n chops.

Why don't you just buy some handlebars? They're like $8 on eBay.

Its usually pretty difficult to make them fit correctly. The clamp type work a lot better for homemade bullhorns but are way more expensive
