Best pedal and toe clip/cage combo

    Hi all,

I'm currently running platform pedals on my fixed gear and want to try switching to toe clips, so I'll have to switch pedals too. I was looking at the Origin8 double toe clips but they have a handful of different pedals and I didn't know which would be best, so here I am.

Which of the Origin8 pedals would be best and what are good alternatives to Origin8? From my research, I definitely want double toe clips with double straps. In the past I've had an issue with toe clips being too long so the bridge of my foot puts too much weight at the back of the pedal, causing pain. I wear a size 10.5.

I like the cheap Wellgo's with the plastic clip and single nylon strap. Compared to clipless, going double strap doesn't add significant enough transfer to justify the price to me and on top of that, metal clips gnar up street shoes and they rust.

You aren't required to have your foot in all of the way all of the time, and double strap won't fix your pain problem- firmer shoes will.

I actually have a similar question. I currently have pedals similar to these: Amazon.com : Wellgo MTB Platform Pedal, 9/16-Inch, Black : Bike Pedals : Sports & Outdoors
with metal toe clips. I feel as though the metal toeclips are fine, but I have problems with the pedal. I usually wear running shoes while riding my fixed gear, and the rubber grippy soles of my running shoes make it hard to slip into the pedal and toe clips. My rubber soles clip on to the metal "spikes" in the pedal. What are the best alternative pedal to this problem?

I have been looking at MKS GR-9's. However, will the 9/16 thread fit my omniums? My current pedal uses a 15mm wrench to tighten. Does this make a difference in the thread? Or is it just the tool to use that is 9/16?

Are the MKS GR-9's a good pedal for my situation? Or otherwise?

Sorry for hijacking your thread, op.
To help you with your question, double strap vs single strap doesn't have a big enough difference in quality to justify the price difference, imo.
