Most shops don't carry the selection that you can find on line, but they will be glad to order it for you. Yet you are to wait until they work up an order, and have to come back to pick it up. Well that's great service, seeing as they are making you wait, and charging you full retail for your drive time. Meanwhile, the LBS has nothing but profit in this part. It's sold before they order it. God help you if QBP doesn't carry it and they have to source it somewhere else.

Oh yea, they never mind charging me 45-65 dollars an hour for things I can't do myself. That's ok, b/c that's the rate. I understand it.

At most shops I have been in, don't ask for anything Campagnolo. Apply the above, we can order it.

Back to the tape. I like stuff that works and feels great as well as lasts a long time. It's price seems very high at the start, until you realize it will last years, and many seasons.HandleBra : Exemplary Leather Bicycle Handlebar Wrap : "Wait ' till you put your hands on this!" TM Nothing I have found comes anywhere close.
Finally someone that understands! I even went to a bike shop thats local and also nationwide, still i found that i can beat the prices online. Its just not worth paying retail store prices when you can get it online. Now back to the original topic Ill deffinatly look into that bar tape, thanks!

have you ever thought about using cloth tape? $5 a roll. i used to get horrible hand cramps because the squishy types of tapes makes me squeeze harder to get grip and after a bit it hurts. i tried cloth and will never again use anything else. I'd recommend the loop cloth tape.

OK dude, just be aware of your contribution to the demise of things you may value.

Paul Kingsnorth: Real England

And if you can savor the irony, buy it online:

Real England: The Battle Against the Bland: Amazon.co.uk

Maybe so, but the fault is shared by both parties. IMO; most LBS treat act like a mail order company, in so far as, we will order it for you.
Then charge full retail price for it. If I need it and the LBS has it. I pay for it. I don't question what they charge. I take my money out and pay.
But doing that, when they have to order what I want and have me wait until they get their order together, and pay full price is not something I'm going to do. I would rather just give the wrench 10 dollars for lunch or beer. You are from the 504. Try to find any Campy 11 anything in that city. Good luck!

The inter webs are not going away. so either the shops learn to live with that fact or they close.

I agree with what you're saying, but there's so much more to the equation than price and delivery time. My LBS is Bicycle Michael's. Their wrenching is great, they don't sell stuff you don't want or need, they give all kinds of free advice, they discount for CCC members, etc etc.

That said, I've also bought online after checking what they carry in stock, but if they have the item I'm looking for and it's a matter of a 10 or so dollar premium I'll help them try to stay in business. If they closed it would be a poorer neighborhood, probably would get replaced with yet another useless nightclub full of tourists, or worse.

Tell Big Tim and the Wizard, Donny, (who IMO is the best wrench I have EVER known, even if he doesn't like the public) in the back hello for me. I'm the guy that owned the pawn shop out on Jefferson.

You see I do know a thing or two about Frenchman St.
