Fort Collins Fixies

Any of you fixies ride in Fort collins (or reside in fort collins). The weather is getting better by the day (for the most part), and doing a brewery tour on a fixed gear is so much fun. Hitting FC brewery (free), Odells brewery ($3), NBB (free), and what ever else makes for a fun little trip. And an all day event.

A couple weeks ago did the 3 took 4 hours, but ya know I like to sit and talk and mingle with the beer guy and ask him questions about the beers and what not, you know really enjoy the experience.

So if anyone interested lets get together and fixie it around town!
(Plus I'm lookin for more people who share an affinity for the inability to coast)

bikes and beer are for jerks. seriously. a few of us 719/303 jerks were considering such a venture last year. we should make it happen this year. i'm going to drive my car the whole time though... and drink half and half. i don't want to be a jerk.

Ah yes the FC brewery. My friend and I used to hit that place up quite a bit. But that was back in the day. Last time I was out there I saw a nice green fixie with moustage bars and no markings locked up. You?

No, I ride a Black (with chrome ends) sekine (its been repainted) dropes fliped and choped. And its also a LSD (Left Side Drive)

Anyway Coops can be added in there, its just another one of those that costs money, but definatly right on track with the other 3!!

I have a Triathlon on the 16th, but anyone interested in doin this sometime after that. Like maybe the following weekend, PM me so we can get a group together!

I would kill for a Fat Tire Ale right about now...they aren't very popular here in Italy. I long for the day I return to the US and get to drink it again. Mmmmmmmm...

Nooo...you...b*st*rd!! Hahaha.

I had a Andechs (Anbechs?) Spezial Hell with dinner tonight...it's a German Pilsner they sell at the local store here. Last time I went home back to PA (about 2 years ago) I actually ordered some Fat Tire on the internet and had it sent UPS to my parent's house. It hadn't reached that far east yet, so I had to special order! I wonder if they have branched out or not. I saw a write up on NBB in the latest Bike magazine. I would love to work for that company...screw stock options, give me BEER OPTIONS!!!!!!

I wish I was sharing that orgasmic feeling with you...

P.S. Hope that didn't sound too gay!

Gay....sounded gay...very...very...gay.

but thats alright I'd share it with you if I could.

NBB hasn't branched out that far yet. They sell merch out in PA but not beer yet. Their distrobution is only as far east as the Mississippi, and even then its not all states along the mississippi.

I have a couple friends who work for the brewery, and I'm trying depratly to have them get me a job there. After working there for 7 years the owner sends you to Belgium for a vacation and beer tasting! (after like 2 or 3 you get a NBB cruiser bike wheeee )

I got hooked on the stuff while I lived in Colorado Springs for 3.5 years. Heh...yeah I was reading about the company benefits. Their level of enviromental stewardship is impressive.

Let me say...I've been to Belgium (3x) and it's the bomb!!! The first weekend in Sept is "Beer Weekend". The whole square is filled with beer tents and you buy a bunch of bottle caps and then pay 2/3/4 caps for a brew. I went there for my birthday last year. A GOOD time was had by all!

I wanna go to Belgium so bad! The only thing I got is that NBB is like 2 miles from my house. It's my own personal belgium cept with out the internationally known cycling reputation and cobbles and tour de flanders etc...

Get real. You wanted it to sound gay, and you know it.

Eh, nothing wrong with a little healthy homoeroticism.

P.S. - Beer is good.

freigh, I'm sure isotopesope and I could round up some fun fixie riders for a brew tour. I tried to get one going last year, but we never made it out of Denver. Darn that early morning drinking! But you'd have to agree to come down to the Springs and take your turn falling off the steep bank of the velodrome. iso's housemate Eric is going to show all us chicken-legged street riders how it's done. Then we'll go eat machaca sandwiches at Monica's mexican restaurant.

Sounds like a plan!!

a buddy of mine wants to go down to the drome in the springs and do a track clinic! I'm excited, he's got a '05 Pista, I don't got nothing, I just have a couple fixies that I ride around town in.

How's the last weekend in april or first weekend in may sound?

Plus I used to go to UCCS (before I got into fixed gears), I'm sure there's some people there would like to see me, and maybe some who'd rather I'd drop dead

i think the track opens next weekend? i'm not sure... you can always rent a track bike there. you do not want to ride a conversion out there. plus, your street ratio will get you nowhere out there. also, you need a uscf license. if you don't have one, you can buy a day license. you have to fill out all of the paperwork for the full license, which is like 20+ pages, then you pay like 5 or 10 bucks for the day, plus a 5 dollar track access fee. what you pay counts toward your full license, so you may just want to buy the whole thing. i sort of hate how professional they are out there, even just to practice. i didn't race last year, but want to this year. we really want to get more bike punks out there rather than all of the otc snobs.

ben, i think evan might be coming down this weekend. what are you doing? making out with teenagers here? i should say so. or at least getting drunk and watching my mouth start fights... oh boy. last weekend i offered to fight a guy and his wife. they were not into it at all. neither was i, but the looks on their faces were hilarious.

alright, alright. I'm coming down. Saturday is opening day, but the clinic is SUNDAY morning, 9am, which means no crazy Sat night parties, Chris. Mountain biking w/a hangover with you guys was bad enough. I'll try to get Scott and Evan to come.

oops. good thing i supplied the link then. i must've still been delirious this morning after seeing that sexy fruit... yowza. i'm fairly certain evan is down, but i think scott is tied up now that he's open 7 days a week.

are you going to ride your de bernardi? get yourself a low 90ish gear inch on it and you'll be golden. no brakes, duh, and no qr's either. i don't remember if either of those apply to your bike...

and okay okay, no commencement of plan awesome... not even a little. evan and i got kicked out of a bar this saturday. apparently soccer moms do not like being pelted with peanuts and doormen don't think i'm as funny as i think i am. jerks.

I'm bringing my De Bernardi, cleaned up for track--no brake no bullhorns. I need a 14 tooth cog, though. Right now I'm turning an 86 inch gear. *****, I have the sinking feeling I'm gonna be sporting track rash down one side of my body after this. Save the peanut and doorman shena****ns for afterwards. You didn't really let Evan buy your motorcycle, did you? Bad,bad, bad.

my motorcycle is sold, that sexy little thing. i got it running again, but still needs work. bad, bad, bad... bad awesome, you know... like michael jackson.

if you can't get a 14t cog by this weekend, eric and i might be able to scrounge something up. i have a 52t or 53t campy road chainring that would fit your miche cranks. i also have some 150mm deep itm track bars floating around my house.

I second the belgium beer. My fav is SLOBER love the name love the taste.
I have a little black book of belgian beers so far ive tried 237 diferent flavors.
If anybody has a chance to go its a blast, the cobels get realy slippery after 4 or 5 beers.
