Buying new fork for a 70s conversion.
I've decided to convert my 70s touring Motobecane. Question is how far into track rake can I go before I start having problems?. It's got 50mm rake stock. The forks I like are around 40-44. That or I'll just get one of those sunlite hi-ten 27" forks with 50mm's of rake.
I would like to change the handling a bit. The best way to describe what I don't like about the handling now is that it's squirelly at low speeds. I'm going to have it checked for misalignment soon, it never tracked straight. If I understand touring bikes though, they are known to handle this way at low speeds.
If you think it's a can of worms I won't worry about the handling too much, I just want to get rid of this french headset. P.S. the head is 200mm. It's a 64cm frame. Thanks.

It should work just fine. Reducing the rake will increase the trail, which should make it more stable, but it will take a bit more effort to turn.
