Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Forgot about that thread!! I ran fixed with clipless for a month, until it got cooler in the mornings. Don't have the bucks for winter shoes, so I flipped the rear wheel to SS, spun my BMX platforms back on and have been riding with my insulated hikers for a few weeks now. I miss FG as it really was a neat experience. But not having the $$$ to buys winter clipless shoes, decided to just ride SS for the fall/winter.

BTW- I fell over 4 times that can remember. All 4 times I just forgot to unclip. Two of the times were in front of witnesses, too!

Don't get new shoes, just get covers. You can usually get a decent insulated set for around $30-$50
