    seat post help!!!

It seems nearly impossible to find a 24mm seat post. I have a very thin framed bike, it currently has an older saddle but i have a modern saddle for it that cant be attached. Help?

either a source to buy a small post, or an adapter for the new saddle to the old post

We need to see a pic of the old post where the saddle clamps on.

Here are some snazzy but expensive units.

    Seatposts

Or go here and buy high quality tubing or rod, then have a machine shop take a couple mms of one end and you can use a standard saddle "guts" clamp. Very inexpensive.

Okay This is my issue in picture form.

So here is the old seat and post

    New railed seat

New and old posts, thicker is the one that wont fit frame

    DSC_0266.jpg

    Too big

    DSC_0265.jpg

So I knew the two types wouldnt work so I sprung on a post that I thought would be tiny enough to fit this old frame. nope
So I am out thirty bucks on a nice post that I have no use for,

is this going to work to adapt the new rail seat?

I am stupid for not looking into this prior to the new post I bought that doesnt fit.

That clamp will work on a post that is 7/8ths inch (22.2mm). What is the top of your post now, above the plump ring?

I suspect you will be unable to tighten it enough. You can make a shim by cutting a soda can with ordinary scissors.

I've had to buy two of these types of clamps in my life. One for a Canadian Peugeot with a 23.8 mm (15/16") post that I bought without the clamp or saddle, and once for a weird Finnish city bike that came with a galvanized post that was really narrow and whose clamp sqeaked like crazy.

The first I bought for a couple bucks at a bike shop in the USA and it just worked fine. The second I bought already attached to a cheap Velo saddle at a car parts store here in Sweden. I had to really crank down on my Finnish one with the wrench, but it works fine.

I had a $25 Peugeot frame that needed a 24mm seatpost. Finally found one on eBay, cost me $40.

you really shouldn't be using a ruler when we're talking about tenths of millimeters
