normal hub to fixed?
Sup guys
im working on a project fixie
ive now converted a normal hub to a fixed but i cant usel a lockring
Since there's no thread left to screw it on.
but i need to attach it properly for it not to kill me!
I came up with 2 solutions
First is welding it on its strong but ugly and realy permenent
second is mettal gleu like jb weld was thinking of putting it in the threads so it cant move
what do you guys think be best??

you should be able to use a SS hub with a fixed gear and a lockring... I think that's what I'm actually running right now.

Well idk but building this bike to see if i like fixed gear have some vintage normandy hubs
ther not made for this so i dont know whether to wel em in or jb weld(metal gleu) em

You can just ride it without a lockring or trying to weld steel to aluminum, stupid application of JB weld, or Locktite. Get the cog tight, don't bust skids, and use your brakes.

No! Epoxy type adhesives are very strong, but have no shear strength. When you try to back pedal (skid) it will just spin off. Don't consider doing that, unless you are contemplating suicide.

AKA "suicide hub". Tried this, took very little time to unscrew a cog I had rotafixed the hell out of, along with a BB lockring.

How about you post up some pictures so we have an idea of what you're dealing with/ us to help you with?
FWIW, you would need a bottom bracket lockring, not a normal track lockring for what I think* you're trying to do....

I rode for months with a 'suicide' set up ie, a cog rotafixed onto a normal hub and a BB locking ring to make me feel like I'd done something. The important thing was, I USED MY BRAKES. Back pressure for controlling my speed sure but not for stopping, major slowing or skids. I used this set up while I saved up for a cheap but decent wheelset ... which is now ten years old and is sitting in Ol' Rusty as it happens, buy sensibly and cheap doesn't equal rubbish.
Mate, fixed gear does not equal skids. Fixed gear does not equal brakeless. You can do these things but if you want to, you need to set your bike up properly first which means good foot retention and proper fixed hubs with locking rings. Until then, just enjoy the ride (brakeless and skids don't actually add a great deal to the experience anyway, a bit but not as much as some make out).

Your cog is slipping.
I rode for a long time on a suicide hub (brakeless to boot) and didn't die. This guy, however, will probably die.

What kind of hub and cog are you using that you run out of threads for a lockring with a single cog installed?
