When I had one, I picked it up used on Craigslist. That's as cheap as you will find. There are knock off brands like Teny I believe. Did you look on the Aerospoke site? Sometimes they will run sales on just the front in raw for like $220. They won't be perfect, but they will be cheap.

Dude just buy the wheel for 200-300. It's not all that heavy as some people say. I can barely tell the difference, though I did notice after switching that my confidence boosted which made the ride more fun and effortless. Don't settle for knock off. Aero spoke is a decent wheel. HED would be even better.

because the placebo effect is the best reason for buying new wheels

I'm surprised no one posted any of these yet

I was making myself feel more manly, by referring to his want of Aerospokes as a less manly thing, such as kittens. The opposite of Kitten Blood would be Viking Blood, or possibly King Diamond Blood.

But seriously, Aerospokes(especially cheap ones. Cheap ones just look, well, cheap.) are dumb, on the street. Leave that for guys in skin suits and aerodynamic helmets.

After having an Aerospoke, there is a difference in weight between that and a quality fixed gear wheel. They are heavy, not when compared to your average $300 fixed gear bike that comes with a standard wheelset. Once you move away from those onto something better quality, the weight difference becomes noticeable.
