Newbie First Build - Brake Questions

Sorry if there is a thread dedicated to this already, but i'm looking for some advice. Just finishing my first build I got a Leader 725 with Bullhorns, and Leader's track wheelset. Not familiar at all in regards to brakes, but i'm thinking I went too far to have a bike shop finish it now. Besides a lever, and calipers what other parts are needed to install a front brake, and any advice on models. Thanks for the help.

Besides lever and caliper, you will need a brake cable with housing. That is what connects the lever to the caliper to make it work. I have a Tektro RL720 lever and R540 caliper and a Jagwire brake cable. Just call Retrogression and Scrod can tell you what you need and most likely sell it for cheaper than other shops. If you buy on your own make sure your lever is the right size for your handle bars.

There's some good info here too: http://www.bikeforums.net/singlespee...ont-brake.html

If you're gonna install it yourself, you'll also need a cable/housing cutter, or at least something capable of cutting cables and housing. Brake cable housing is surprisingly resilient stuff, and your typical wire cutters will give you a sloppy cut if they get through it at all.
